Finding a model of the Datsun 510 in 1:18 scale is difficult. This is the most expensive model I've ever purchased and I would not have done so if my daily driver of the last 44 years was not a 510. I typically buy diecast models and, despite the name of this vendor, this Ignition Model is cast resin. It is beautiful, very detailed and with very crisp features. Nothing out of scale, no shortcuts. The color is awesome.
As I expected, there are no moving parts. Neither the doors nor the hood or the trunk open. The wheels don't roll and the fronts don't steer. I guess I was prepared for non-opening doors and decks but I did expect the wheels to roll. Since I had pretty realistic expectations, which were nonetheless high for price point, overall I was well satisfied. The only cons I would call out is that the incredible detail is not carried over to the undercarriage. Under the car there are no separate parts; it's just a one-piece molded black pan. They could have at least painted the exhaust pipe, transmission, rear end silver. I mean everyone is going to turn the car over to see if it's a boy or a girl. And you really have to inspect to see this, but the pedals are in the wrong positions.
I don't regret adding this one to my collection, but for the cost I expect more from a model.
Almost perfect!.. beautiful car.!
